Description
The freshness and complexity of a Pessac-Leognan red wine
The estate
Since 2001, Chateau de Fieuzal has belonged to Brenda and Lochlann Quinn. Originally from Ireland, the couple strive to perpetuate the unique character of the estate with both passion and dynamism, while preserving the signature style and authenticity of this Graves Cru Classé.
The vineyard
Chateau de Fieuzal 2021 is a Pessac-Leognan wine that is made from an exceptional vineyard. The vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on a one of the appellation’s typical terroirs, made up of fine soils covered with gravel.
The vintage
Although the mild winter conditions favored budburst between March 24th and April 1st, the 9 nights of frost between March 28th and April 19th had an impact on yields. High spring humidity, slowing down flowering, combined with high temperatures. These tropical conditions led to a rapid development of the vegetation. The diligence shown by the chateau's teams enabled the vineyard to maintain its healthy condition and ensured a progressive and optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest began on September 23rd and ended on October 13th.
The blend
Merlot (50%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (40%)
Petit Verdot (10%).
