The
2015 Chateau d'Issan is an exceptional
Margaux on many levels. First, it is the property's 70th vintage under the
Cruse family, since they purchased it in 1945. Then, the analyses that were obtained during maturity controls, especially on
Cabernet Sauvignon, were exceptional and have never been achieved like this.
2015 Issan is a blend of 65%
Cabernet Sauvignon (the property owns many Cabernet plots) and 35%
Merlot. The varietals were patiently harvested between September 21st and October 6th, in perfect conditions. In those conditions, the
2015 Issan perfectly expresses the sophistication of its terroir. On the nose, it offers strong, fresh liquorice notes and a wonderful expression of fleshy dark berries, with a hint of chocolate mint that releases a new wave of freshness. When swirling, more balsamic fragrances emerge (cedar and exotic wood fragrances). The palate expresses itself dynamically, the mid-palate is dense, spicy with tannins of smooth and refined texture. It is a fine Issan that shows great classicism, with a delicious straight backbone. This wine has a great ageing potential.
