Description
A red wine from Haut-Medoc which harmoniously expresses its terroir
The estate
With its origins dating back to 1147, Chateau Cantemerle is one of the oldest estates of the Haut-Medoc appellation. Managed by the Cordier family, Chateau Cantemerle will seduce enthusiasts with the signature style of its wines, exhibiting great harmony and elegance through a subtle aromatic palette and a tannic structure full of finesse.
The vineyard
Located in the Haut-Medoc appellation and planted in fine and deep gravel soils, the Chateau Cantemerle vineyard covers 95 hectares of vines, aged 40 years on average. Here you will find sandy-gravel soils dating from the Quaternary period.
The winemaking and aging
Manual harvests with sorting of destemmed fruits, then vinification in wooden, stainless steel and cement vats. Aging lasts for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 40% are new.
Blend
Chateau Cantermerle is made of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (58%), Merlot (29%), Cabernet Franc (7%) and Petit Verdot (6%).
