Description
A typical Haut-Medoc red wine
The estate
With origins that hark back to 1147, Chateau Cantemerle is one of the oldest estates in Haut-Médoc. Managed by the Cordier family, Chateau Cantemerle will seduce enthusiasts with the signature style of its wines, exhibiting great harmony and elegance through a subtle aromatic palette and a tannic structure full of finesse.
The vineyard
Chateau Cantemerle produces Haut-Medoc wines that stem from a 93-hectare vineyard. The vines are 40 years old on average and are planted on fine, deep gravel. The presence of silica-gravel deposits dating from the Quaternary period is a noteworthy feature.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvests with sorting of destemmed fruits, then vinification in wooden, stainless steel and cement vats. Aging lasts for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 40% are new.
The blend
Chateau Cantemerle 2015 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (59%), Merlot (27%), Cabernet Franc (8%) and Petit Verdot (6%).
