Description
An Iconic Saint-Émilion Wine, Captivating in Its Complexity and Elegance
The Estate
Nestled on the southern slope of the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, Château Ausone boasts a rich and fascinating history dating back to Roman times. Its very name evokes the Roman poet Ausonius, who, according to legend, owned a villa on this land. Over the centuries, this iconic estate has become a true standard-bearer xxxx Bordeaux winemaking, combining tradition, elegance, and unrivaled expertise.
The Vineyard
Spanning nearly 7 hectares, the Château Ausone vineyard is planted on a hillside, benefiting from an ideal exposure and a unique terroir. The soils, made up of a blend of clay over asteria limestone, give these great Saint-Émilion wines a minerality and finesse that have earned the estate its renown. The exceptional location and the estate's small size allow for meticulous attention to every vine, ensuring consistent quality from vintage to vintage.
Winemaking and Aging
The winemaking process is carried out with meticulous care. The grapes are hand-harvested, then precisely sorted. They are subsequently fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats before being aged in new oak barrels. This approach, blending tradition and innovation, brings out the best of the fruit while preserving its integrity, resulting in wines of remarkable finesse and depth.
Blend
Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
