Description
A vintage Blanc de Blancs seducing with finesse and complexity
The estate
The Krug Champagne House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary and passionate man. It holds a library unique in the world, made up of more than 150 reserve wines, some of which are over 15 years old.
The vineyard
With more than 250 different parcels, including the prestigious Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay, the Krug House holds an exceptional heritage of vines in Champagne.
The wine
Described as "the essence of Krug," this exceptionally rare champagne celebrates the expression of a single chardonnay parcel from a single harvest. This 1.84-hectare vineyard, enclosed by protective walls since 1698, overlooks the church of Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most legendary villages in the region.
The vintage
This 2008 vintage champagne tells the story of a year marked by elegance and intensity, as well as a cool, well-balanced year in Champagne, which allowed for the production of 13,160 bottles and 500 magnums.
The grape variety
Chardonnay (100%)
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Clos du Mesnil 2008 from Maison Krug
Tasting
Powerful, sensual, and vibrant, this champagne reveals aromas of chalk, lemon, apricot kernel, walnut, flint, biscuit, toasted bread, white grapefruit, and quince. Lively and structured, it shows fine bubbles and pronounced acidity. Its finish on the palate is remarkably persistent.
