2011 Pauillac, Second Wine from Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, Bordeaux

The Second Wine from Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, Les Carruades de Lafite, is produced with the same methods as the great wine, but from young vines. This 2011 is an elegant blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 3.5% Cabernet Franc and 2.5% Petit Verdot.

The nose is rather closed and gives off red berry and tobacco notes, as well as coffee and spicy aromas. The 2011 Les Carruades de Lafite offers a lush and quite fleshy palate, with a good roundness and well-marked tannins. This wine is long and elegant.

    Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2011 Carruades de Lafite is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Soft berry fruit, underbrush, fresh herb and bay leaf characteristics as well as soft tannins, a velvety texture, and a medium-bodied, slightly superficial, but satisfying style suggest this 2011 should be consumed over the next 10-15 years.
