Tavel is an appellation in the
Rhone Valley created in 1937 that covers over
900 hectares only in the town of Tavel. The vines enjoy a Mediterranean climate and grow in alluvium, sand, marl-limestone and gravel-limestone soil. The Tavel appellation produces only rosé wines from various blends consisting of
Grenache (the main grape variety) and other secondary grape varieties (
Cinsault,
Bourboulenc,
Clairette,
Mourvedre,
Picpoul,
Syrah,
Carignan,
Calitor). Tavel rosé wines develop
red fruit aromas that evolve into
stone fruit and
almond scents as they age. They show
depth,
roundness and a great
power, and offer tasty
spicy touches
