Founded in 1961 by Dino Carletti, the winery is named in tribute to the poet Angelo Ambrogini whose nickname was Poliziano. The winery first started out with 22 hectares and today it has grown to 170 hectares of planted vines and has been passed down through three generations.
The wine is made from 85% Sangiovese and 15% Colorino and Canaiolo e Merlot. The wine is fermented and macerated in stainless steel then aged for 14 to 16 months in wood barrels. This is your classic Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. It has plenty of red fruit, mostly dark berries and cherries with a nice balance of oak and acidity to match. It has a lovely balance with strong yet smooth tannins and a long finish. Pair this with a Friday night pizza or a dish of hearty pasta with Bolognese sauce.
