Established in 1844 by Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife Mary, the Penfolds estate has become a leading wine producer in Australia, with a great international reputation for its powerful red wines. The estate today produces a range of multi-vineyard and multi-region blends, as well as single-varietal wines aged in American or French oak.
The Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz has been produced since 1959. The vineyard from which it comes is located in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia, close to the city of Adelaide.
The 2017 vintage was characterized by a mild and humid winter, providing the soil with good water conditions. The climate during the rest of the year allowed the grapes to fully ripen in time for the harvest.
Vinification and Aging
Following the harvest in mid-March and once the fermentation is complete, the Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz 2017 is aged 12 months in American oak barrels.
The Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz is a single-varietal wine exclusively made with Shiraz.
