The Producer
Established in 1844 by Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife Mary, the Penfolds estate has become a leading wine producer in Australia, with a great international reputation for its powerful red wines. The estate today produces a range of multi-vineyard and multi-region blends, as well as single-varietal wines aged in American or French oak.
The California Collection
The Penfolds "California Collection" is a project 20 years in the making, harking back to the time when Penfolds winemakers first imported heritage vine cuttings from South Australia to plant in the sunny vineyards of California. The four wines comprising this collection are true "citizens of the world," unrestricted by geographical borders and representing the concept of multiregional winemaking. Based on fruit from Napa Valley grown on originally Australian vine cuttings, some of these wines also include fruit from Australia.
The Wine
The Penfolds Bin 98 QUANTUM Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is the flagship wine of the California Collection. This "Wine of the World" is crafted with great conviction and is the product of Penfold's very high standards of quality. The blend includes Cabernet Sauvignon from the greatest terroirs of Napa Valley and Shiraz of great pedigree harvested from the vineyards of South Australia. A wine that truly knows no border.
Vinification and Aging
This red wine by Penfolds comprises a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and 13% Shiraz from South Australia. It is aged for a period of 16 months in American oak (80% new) and French oak (20% new).

The bouquet of this multi-regional red wine by Penfolds reveals ripe dark fruit (blueberries, blackberries and boysenberries), along with savory nuances of malt, mustard and cinnamon.

The Penfolds Bin 98 QUANTUM Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 glistens on the palate, offering a rich, marbled texture and succulent acidity. Flavors of graphite (a varietal expression) and hazelnut (an expression of oak maturation) come through upon a plush texture.
