The estate
The Château Giscours, located in Bordeaux in the Margaux appellation, is a historic wine estate dating back to 1330, with records of winegrowing as early as 1552. Managed since 1995 by the Albada Jelgersma family, the estate covers 300 hectares. This Third Growth of 1855 is known for its ecological commitment, recent innovations and technical heritage, notably the Skawinski plough.
The vineyard
La Sirène de Giscours originates from the estate's vines planted on the prime gravel terroirs of Margaux. These deep Garonne-origin soils give this second wine its characteristic structure and allow the grape varieties to fully express themselves. The gravel terroir contributes significantly to the depth and brightness of the Cabernet Sauvignon comprising the blend.
Winemaking and aging
La Sirène de Giscours 2024 benefits from meticulous winemaking, starting with rigorous manual and optical sorting to select only the finest grapes. Fermentation takes place in concrete and stainless steel vats, followed by a 35-day maceration at 28°C to extract color and aromas. Aging continues for 12 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new wood, imparting complexity and finesse to the wine.
Blend
52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot
