Description
A red wine from Crozes-Ermitage with tight and fine tannins
From a plot selection in the Crozes-Ermitage appellation, the Crozes-Ermitage "Le Grand Courtil" of Ferraton Père & Fils is a red wine made with Syrah. Aged around 20 years on average, the vines benefit from granitic and gravelly soils at the top of a hillside and clay and limestone at the bottom. The wine is aged in barrels (with a proportion of 20 to 30% new barrels) for 12 to 14 months, depending on the year.
The Crozes-Ermitage "Le Grand Courtil" 2016 by Ferraton Père & Fils presents a crystal clear, intense ruby color. The nose exudes aromas of ripe red berries and notes of leather. Generous on the palate, the wine reveals flavors of jammy red fruits. The tannins are rather tight but show maturity, married to a subtle woody vanilla. The finish is extremely long.
