Description

An ample and expressive Saint-Estèphe wine

The estate

The Saint-Estèphe vineyard developed around the Meyney estate, cultivated as early as the 13th century by Cistercian monks. In 1625, it officially became ecclesiastical property thanks to the bequest of Pierre Forthon. The 19th century marked its entry into modernity with the Luetkens family, who associated the term “château” with it. In 1919, the Cordier merchants gave it international prominence. Since 2004, the estate has experienced a new momentum, owned by the Crédit Agricole Grands Crus subsidiary and under the direction of Anne Le Naour.

The vineyard

Located in Saint-Estèphe, the vineyard of Château Meyney benefits from a privileged location, resulting in wines with an elegant structure and refined aromatics. 2024 is the first vintage certified Organic Farming.

The vintage

The 2024 vintage was marked by significant fungal pressure due to a wet spring, requiring increased vigilance, particularly during the conversion to organic farming. The dry summer favored good tannin development. The September rains demanded precise and selective harvesting, carried out between September 23 and October 9 depending on the grape varieties.

Vinification and aging

The grapes underwent a double sorting process, first in the vineyard and then at the cellar. The vinification was conducted gently and tailored to each vat. The aging continued for 18 months in French oak barrels.

Grape varieties

The Château Meyney 2024 is composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot.
