Description
The freshness and balance of a complex and structured great red wine from Haut-Médoc
The estate
Beautifully located on the left bank of Bordeaux, the Château La Lagune stands out among the very beautiful references of the Haut-Médoc appellation. Since 2004, Caroline Frey has been using her talent to elevate Château La Lagune to the top.
The vineyard
Located on a gravelly rise, the vineyard of Château La Lagune extends over 80 hectares. The vines are cultivated following the practices of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The grape varieties of this essential property of Haut-Médoc are composed of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage revealed a capricious weather subject to various excesses. The mild and dry winter triggered the early budding of the vines at the end of March. The flowering takes place under humid weather after the disbudding work carried out in May. Finally, the summer arrives, hot and dry, the vine compensates for the water stress thanks to its terroir. The color change begins on July 29 and ends between mid-August and the end of August. The harvest at Château La Lagune began on September 18 with the Merlots, and ended on October 9 on the Mlle L vineyard. Throughout the year, the work carried out by the technical teams and the biodynamic management of the vineyard have made it possible to compensate for the climatic variations. The result was up to the work provided with a superb healthy and homogeneous harvest.
