Tasting Characteristics and Tips for the Tertre Blanc 2024 Château du Tertre
Tasting
Nose
The nose entices with a pronounced, yet refined aromatic profile. The bouquet reveals elegant floral notes, such as lilac and jasmine, harmoniously interwoven with fruity aromas of pear and peach.
Palate
The attack is characterized by the roundness and volume typical of chardonnay, supported by a fine acidity. The tasting concludes with a saline finish imparted by the presence of gros manseng.
A rare and complex white from the prestigious terroir of Margaux
The estate
Founded in the 18th century by Pierre Mitchell, inventor of the Bordeaux bottle, the Château du Tertre was classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855. Since the acquisition of the estate by Eric Albada Jelgersma at the end of 1997, significant investments have been undertaken to reveal the full richness of this exceptional terroir, renowned for its remarkable homogeneity. Since January 2021, management has been entrusted to the Helfrich family, at the helm of the trading house Les Grands Chais de France.
The vineyard
The parcels selected for the production of this Vin de Fance benefit from an exceptional 6.20-hectare terroir. The sandy-gravel soils provide excellent drainage and optimal heat reflection, promoting perfect ripening of the grapes while preserving their aromatic freshness.
Vinification and ageing
Hand-harvested with rigorous sorting before crushing without destemming. Following pressing, only the first press juices are kept. Aged for 6 months in barrels (50% new, 50% once-used).
Blend
33% sauvignon blanc, 30% chardonnay, 23% gros manseng and 14% viognier.
