Description
The estate
Chateau du Tertre is a Margaux Grand Cru located on the left bank of Bordeaux. Since its acquisition in late 1997 by Eric Albada Jelgersma, considerable investments have been made in order to bring out the best of this exceptional terroir with wines of very rare consistency. Since January 2021, Chateau du Tertre has been run by the Helfrich family, who manages the trading company Les Grands Chais de France.
The vineyard
Château du Terte reigns over a beautiful 45-hectare vineyard located in the Margaux appellation, of which 41 are used for production. The sandy-clay gravel soils of this exceptional terroir prevent excessive water stress during hot and dry months by ensuring a constant availability of water.
The winemaking and aging
Manual and optical sorting. Wood, concrete and stainless steel tanks. Maceration for 21 days at 24°C. Aging lasts for 12 months in French oak barrels (of which 40% are new wood).
Blend
The 2020 Chateau du Tertre is made of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (47%), Merlot (24%), Cabernet Franc (21%), Petit Verdot (8%).
Tasting
The 2020 Chateau du Tertre seduces with its elegance, its silky touch and its power, which are blended to a beautiful point of tension.
