Description
The estate
Located to the northwest of Pomerol, Chateau de Sales is a historic estate on the right bank of Bordeaux and has been owned by the same family for over five centuries. Today, the Lambert heirs and their children perpetuate the legacy of this iconic estate that produces fine Pomerol wines.
The vineyard
Comprising 47.60 hectares of vines, Chateau de Sales’ vineyard is the largest in the Pomerol appellation.
The vintage
Flowering began at the end of May and took place quickly and evenly in a hot, dry climate. Alternating rainfall and thunderstorms with hot spells in July enabled the vines to grow actively. From the end of August onwards, the sunny conditions as well as the temperature variations between day and night were ideal and allowed the grapes to reach a good ripeness level. The harvest took place from September 24th to October 10th.
Vinification and aging
The wine is aged in new barrels (5%) and in 1 to 3-year old barrels (95%).
The blend
Merlot (74%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (20%)
Cabernet Franc (6%).
