Description
The typical features of a red Grand Vin from Pomerol
The estate
Located to the northwest of Pomerol, Chateau de Sales is a historic estate on the right bank of Bordeaux and has been owned by the same family for over five centuries. Today, the Lambert heirs and their children perpetuate the legacy of this iconic estate that produces fine Pomerol wines.
The vineyard
Comprising a surface area of 47.60 hectares of vines, Chateau de Sales’ vineyard is the largest in the Pomerol appellation.
The vintage
While the beginning of 2018 started with wet and rainy weather conditions, which led to a severe risk of fungal diseases, the very good weather conditions during summer followed by a dry and warm autumn led to a beautiful phenolic ripeness. The harvest started on September 18th and lasted until October 5th.
Vinification and aging
The wine is aged in new barrels (18%) and 1 to 3-year old barrels (82%).
The blend
Merlot (69%)
Cabernet Franc (16%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (15%).
