Located to the northwest of Pomerol, Chateau de Sales is a historic estate on the right bank of Bordeaux and has been owned by the same family for over five centuries. Today, the Lambert heirs and their children perpetuate the legacy of this iconic estate that produces fine Pomerol wines.
Comprising a surface area of 47.60 hectares of vines, Chateau de Sales’ vineyard is the largest in the Pomerol appellation.
While the beginning of 2018 started with wet and rainy weather conditions, which led to a severe risk of fungal diseases, the very good weather conditions during summer followed by a dry and warm autumn led to a beautiful phenolic ripeness. The harvest started on September 18th and lasted until October 5th.
Vinification and aging
The wine is aged in new barrels (18%) and 1 to 3-year old barrels (82%).
Cabernet Franc (16%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (15%).
This wine flaunts a beautiful garnet red color.
The nose combines elegant woody notes with delicious ripe fruit fragrances (blackcurrant).
Complex, the palate exhales aromas of black fruits, blackberry and spices. The palate is seductive with its silky tannins, its balance and its very fine and persistent finish.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 De Sales rocks up with expressive blackberries and black cherries notes with an undercurrent of tilled soil, truffles and mossy bark. Medium to full-bodied, it has a solid structure of ripe, rounded tannins and impressive freshness, finishing with bright black fruit layers.
