Description
Well-balanced and rich, a fine Pomerol wine
The estate
Located to the northwest of Pomerol, Château de Sales is a historic estate on the right bank of Bordeaux and has been owned by the same family for over five centuries. Today, the Lambert heirs and their children continue the legacy of this iconic estate that produces fine Pomerol wines.
The vineyard
Comprising 47.60 hectares of vines, the vineyard belonging to Château de Sales is the largest in the Pomerol appellation.
The vintage
The hot and dry climate from the end of May to mid-June favoured an even flowering period. July was particularly dry and was punctuated by rainy spells at the end of the month which triggered the ripening process. The noticeable temperature variations between day and night during the month of August and the cool month of September ensured a good ripeness level.
Winemaking and ageing
The wine is aged in new barrels (5%) and in 1 to 3-year old barrels (95%).
Blend
Merlot (82%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (9%)
Cabernet Franc (9%).
