Located to the northwest of Pomerol, Château de Sales is a historic estate on the right bank of Bordeaux and has been owned by the same family for over five centuries. Today, the Lambert heirs and their children continue the legacy of this iconic estate that produces fine Pomerol wines.
Comprising 47.60 hectares of vines, the vineyard belonging to Château de Sales is the largest in the Pomerol appellation.
The hot and dry climate from the end of May to mid-June favoured an even flowering period. July was particularly dry and was punctuated by rainy spells at the end of the month which triggered the ripening process. The noticeable temperature variations between day and night during the month of August and the cool month of September ensured a good ripeness level.
Winemaking and ageing
The wine is aged in new barrels (5%) and in 1 to 3-year old barrels (95%).
Cabernet Sauvignon (9%)
Cabernet Franc (9%).
The colour is a beautiful purple, with violet hues.
Complex and intense, the nose blends subtle woody fragrances with notes of ripe fruit.
This Pomerol wine has a very pleasant attack on the palate and offers a harmonious balance along with a good volume and roundness. The finish is persistent, with fine, elegant tannins and intense aromas of fruit.
The 2015 De Sales is medium garnet-purple in color with a restrained nose with subtle red currants and plums with hints of underbrush and cinnamon stick plus a waft of herbs. It's medium-bodied and refreshing with a chewy frame and just enough fruit.
