Description
A subtle and refined Pomerol red wine
The estate
Located to the northwest of Pomerol, Chateau de Sales is a historic estate on the right bank of Bordeaux and has been owned by the same family for over five centuries. Today, the Lambert heirs and their children perpetuate the legacy of this iconic estate that produces fine Pomerol wines.
The vineyard
Comprising 47.60 hectares of vines, Chateau de Sales’ vineyard is the largest in the Pomerol appellation.
The vintage
A cool, wet spring and early summer slowed down the vegetative cycle. The second half of summer was particularly dry and sunny, and was marked by significant water stress. The mild temperatures during September and October, combined with strong temperature variations, were ideal and favoured the optimal concentration of the grapes while preserving a rich aromatic palette.
Vinification and aging
The wine is aged in new barrels (5%) and in 1 to 3-year old barrels (95%).
The blend
Merlot (90%)
Cabernet Franc (10%).
