Chateau d'Issan is located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, and enjoys a favourable geographical situation that brings a certain quality to the wine. This 2011 Margaux 3e Cru Classe Issan is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% Merlot.
This vintage is marked by a good balance between melted and bold tannins. The structure is somewhat fleshy and dense. The 2011 Chateau d'Issan is a charming wine and is one of the best vintages of the Chateau. The finish, faithful to those of the previous vintages, is characterised by a certain strength and length. The wine purity is remarkable. The former is fresh and possesses an incredible velvety texture.
Its bigger sister, the 2011 d'Issan exhibits an attractive perfume of black cherries, earth and background loamy soil and oak notes. Although elegant, medium-bodied and well-made, it is less impressive than other vintages have been over the last 10-15 years. Drink it over the next decade.
