Description
The freshness and aromatic expression of a great Côtes de Provence rosé wine
The estate
Château d'Esclans is located in the heart of Provence, north-east of Saint-Tropez, with the Mediterranean as its backdrop. The first traces of Château d'Esclans date back to the Roman Empire. At the time, it served as an observation post for the Gulf of Fréjus, to guard against possible sea invasions.
Château d'Esclans is an extraordinary estate in the heart of Provence. The château is famous for its old Grenache vines, which produce grapes with more concentrated aromas than younger vines.
Built in the 19th century, the current château has had many owners. Owned by Sacha Lichine since 2006, Château d'Esclans has contributed to the development of Côtes de Provence wines. Today, it has become a global benchmark for Provence rosés, with its Whispering Angel cuvée.
The vineyard
Château d'Esclans is a benchmark among the great Côtes de Provence wines, overseeing a 44-hectare vineyard. The vines are around thirty years old and grow on soils ranging from clay and limestone to sandy gravel, depending on the plot.
Grape varieties
Château d'Esclans 2022 comes from a vineyard made up of Grenache, Rolle, Syrah, Cinsault and Tibouren.
