The estate
The Château d'Esclans is nestled in the heart of Provence, northeast of Saint-Tropez, with the Mediterranean as its backdrop. Its earliest traces date back to the Roman Empire, when it served as a watchtower over the Gulf of Fréjus, allowing potential seaborne attacks to be anticipated.
Château d'Esclans is an exceptional estate rooted in Provence. It stands out in particular for its old Grenache vines, which produce grapes with more concentrated and complex aromas than those of younger vines.
Built in the 19th century, the present-day château has seen a succession of owners over time. Since 2006, Sacha Lichine has been at its helm and has greatly contributed to raising the profile of Côtes de Provence wines. The estate now enjoys worldwide recognition for its rosés, driven in particular by the renowned Whispering Angel cuvée.
The vineyard
Near the ancient Roman city of Fréjus, on the French Riviera, lies the Esclans Valley, home to the estate's 44 hectares of vines. With an average age of 35 years, these vines take root in varied soils, alternating between clay, limestone and sandy gravel depending on the plot. This mosaic of terroirs endows the wines of Provence with an aromatic palette of great richness.
Blend
Grenache, Rolle (Vermentino) and Tibouren.
