The estate
Situated in Haut-Medoc and belonging to the Miailhe family since 1924, Chateau Coufran is an atypical property of the appellation. Its unusual character comes from the blend of its wine, dominated by Merlot. This unique feature has earned Chateau Coufran the nickname "Pomerol du Medoc".
The vineyard
The Chateau Coufran vineyard covers 76 hectares of vines aged 50 years on average and planted in gravel soils and marl on a clay subsoil. The vineyard is certified Agriculture Respectful of the Environment in Aquitaine of Level 2 (AREA) and High Environmental Value (HVE) of level 3.
The winemaking and aging
Thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. 12 months of aging in French oak barrels.
The blend
The Chateau Coufran 2020 is made from a blend of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%).
