Description
A Structured and Elegant Brunello di Montalcino
The Estate
The Antinori - Pian Delle Vigne estate is located 6 kilometers southwest of Montalcino. Since its inception, the estate has adopted a philosophy of aging in large barrels, in order to preserve the exceptional integrity and fruit of the Sangiovese. Pian delle Vigne has belonged to the Antinori Family since 1995, the year of the first vintage produced under its name.
The Vineyard
The estate extends over 460 acres (184 hectares), of which 160 acres (65 hectares) are planted with vines mainly facing southwest, at an altitude of 130 meters above sea level.
Vinification and Aging
The harvested grapes were transported to the winery, destemmed, gently crushed, then transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place. Maceration on the skins took place at a controlled temperature of 28 °C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was transferred to oak barrels of different capacities, ranging between 30 and 80 hectoliters, where it aged for two years. Pian delle Vigne was then bottled and continued its aging before being released to the market.
