Description
The estate
Located in the heart of southern Tuscany, Altesino is an estate whose exceptional terroir was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
Instilling a respectful approach towards the vineyard and its surrounding nature, this estate excels in the production of fine red wines from the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, one of the main Italian appellations. A forerunner, the Altesino estate introduced two major innovations to the appellation, with the introduction of the concept of "cru" in 1975 and barrel vinification in 1979.
Attentive to their terroir, rigor and meticulousness both in the vineyard and during the vinification process are the keystones of this estate, which spreads across 80 hectares, 44 of which are vineyards, and is renowned for the high quality of its wines.
