Domaine de la Garance : Key Points

Founded in 1991, the goal of Domaine de la Garance was to create great wines that would highlight the geological evolution of the superb terroirs of the South of France. Indeed, the estate watches over 8 hectares of vines that are rooted on the last foothill of the Cevennes mountain range, to the northeast of Pezenas.

The impressive tapestry of soils lie side by side. The pebbly soils of the Montagne Noire range, known as Villafranchiens, partly give the vines their high quality potential. This unique heritage offers ideal conditions for the development of red grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, as well as white grape varieties such as Grenache Gris, Clairette and Chardonnay.

Another asset of the estate is the quality of its vines. They are 55 years old on average and are perfectly preserved. The estate works its vineyards in an organic manner in order to let the unique features of the Languedoc terroirs shine through.

The result is a wine with a typical Mediterranean character, perfectly suited to ageing. Thus, the reds are lively and full of character while showing a beautifully subtle expression. The white wines are very expressive and charming as they are oxidative.
