The estate
The prestigious magazine, Wine Enthusiast, honored Penfolds as their 2013 New World Winery of the Year. The Penfolds estate had already established itself as an icon of fine Australian wines at the beginning of the 20th century, thanks to Mary Penfold’s unparalleled determination. Indeed, the co-founder of the Penfolds estate put her heart and soul into making exceptional wines. Her lifelong work is reflected in the estate's success in establishing itself as a benchmark in Southern Australia. When Max Schubert became part of the Penfolds' story in the 1950s, he instilled the elegance of fine Bordeaux wines, that fascinated him greatly, into the estate's wines. Success shortly followed when the cellar master produced his famous Grange wines, which crossed Australian borders in order to win the hearts of wine lovers all around the world.
The wine
The G5 is unique in that it stems from a blend of five exceptional Grange cuvees and thus exudes both complexity and richness. A successful challenge for the Penfolds estate, which once again never ceases to amaze wine lovers by reinterpreting the masterpieces of Max Schubert, the iconic cellar master. This rare and unique wine has been produced in very limited quantities: only 2,200 bottles are available worldwide.
The vintage
Guided by its quest for the finest blends, the Australian estate has always sought to create a new style of Penfolds red wine. Following the success of the G4 vintage, the famous house decided to surpass itself once again by offering G5, a blend of the sublime 2002, 2004, 2008, 2016 and 2018 vintages. These five vintages have been carefully chosen: they are among the estate's favorites and are truly unique from one another. Therefore, the G5 vintage has an unrivalled quality, structure and style.

The tasting
"Glorious aromas of blackberry, spice, tile and toasted wood that move into sandalwood, violet and rose petal, then clove and nutmeg, before revealing a cappuccino and cream undertone. Full-bodied yet very tight and compact with a dense center palate that is still agile and energetic. Great complexity. Waiting to open and unravel in the bottle.
