A Pauillac complexe et équilibré
The second wine of Château Pontet-Canet, Hauts de Pontet-Canet is a red wine produced in the Pauillac appellation. Produced from the youngest vines of this vineyard of 81 hectares, this cuvée enjoys a terroir consisting of gravelly soil of the Quaternary. The wine is aged in oak barrels over a period of time that varies according to the vintage. The 1996 vintage is composed of 74.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24.5% Merlot and 1.30% Cabernet Franc.
With its intense and clear ruby color, the 1996 Pontet-Canet offers a fruity and supple attack on the palate. This complex and balanced wine reveals rich aromas and presents magnificent tannins.
