Vinum

Expressive nose with exotic fruits and grapefruit on the bouquet, accompanied by fine spice and floral notes; creamy attack, showing a certain opulence while remaining fresh and elegant, wonderful acid structure, subtle tannins, very long finish, saline. An excellent Petit Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc that need not shy away from some Grand Vin.

Decanter

Lemongrass, some white floral scents with peach and lemon. Bright and tangy, this has a little more weight and mouthfeel than Les Hauts, a touch creamier, just adding an extra layer of texture with hints of bitter orange peel and some salty nut notes on the finish. Focused and fresh with character. Nice acidity with volume. Ends sleek while maintaining good aromatic intensity. Aged 50% in new oak barrels. pH 3.15

White flowers, honeysuckle, white peach, and mango fill the perfume. On the palate, the wine is juicy, vibrant, and crisp, with a chalky, citrus and mint note in the finish. The wine is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc, with 20% Semillon, 13% ABV. Drink from 2026-2034. 92-92 Pts

Le Figaro Vin

Score: 89-91. A fresh, engaging nose with hints of lemon yogurt. On the palate, the substance is crystalline, pure, carried by a sumptuous texture. The finish, fairly long, ends on a smoky, mouthwatering note.

Vertdevin

The nose is elegant, precise and offers a fine fleshiness. It reveals notes of pulpy yellow apple, vibrant kumquat and, more lightly, white flowers, combined with a subtle hint of peach blossom, almost almond blossom, and discreet toasted nuances. The palate is beautifully guided, fruity, elegant and racy, offering accuracy, fine tension, lovely energy, a tangy backbone, purity, a crystalline edge and a wrapping feel. A lovely, well-judged fattiness with finesse and control. On the palate, this wine shows notes of kumquat and quince, and more lightly juicy/bright yellow peach, joined by fine touches of pineapple, discreet almost-verbena hints, as well as a touch of toasted almond, flowers and a discreet hint of almost crunchy apricot. A touch of tannin both in the aromatics and in the structure. A beautifully rounded, elegant, gourmand wine with a certain succulence.

The minerality and refinement of a second white wine from Pessac-Léognan

The property

At the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte is among the oldest wine estates in Bordeaux, with origins dating back to 1365. The acquisition of the property by Daniel and Florence Cathiard in 1990 marks a decisive turning point in its history. Driven by an ambitious vision and a deep passion, the Cathiard couple has raised the estate to the top of the Graves. Today, Smith Haut Lafitte shines internationally with its White wines and Red wines recognized for their refinement and unique signature.

The vineyard

The Petit Smith Haut Lafitte white comes from specific plots of the Pessac-Léognan vineyard, cultivated using organic and biodynamic farming. The vines, averaging 12 years old, are planted on a soil of günzian gravels, typical of the appellation, bringing minerality and freshness to the wine. Mass selection with rootstocks from the mother vine of the property ensures the preservation of the genetic heritage and the authentic expression of the terroir.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are hand-picked in small crates and then subjected to inert pressing to preserve their aromatic freshness. After cold static settling, fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. Aging continues for 12 months on lees with regular stirring, in barrels half of which are new and the other half of a wine. These barrels are made in the estate's integrated cooperage, ensuring perfect control of aging.

Blend

80% Sauvignon Blanc, bringing freshness, vivacity, and citrus notes, complemented by 20% Sémillon which provides structure, roundness, and aging potential.
