The wine
Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte is the Second Red Wine of this must-see property of Pessac-Léognan.
The vineyard
Superbly located, the vineyard of Château Smith Haut Laffite extends over 78 hectares of vines. Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte 2019 is made from vines averaging 11 years old. The château uses its own vine plants thanks to a mother vine preserved in the nursery on the island of Lalande. The vineyard is cultivated in Organic Agriculture.
Vinification and aging
Following a double pre and post destemming sorting, the non-crushed grapes are gravity-fed into vats for fermentation. The extraction is carried out by punching down and/or pumping over. The aging lasts 14 months in barrels (20% new wood) made in the cooperage integrated into the property.
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (60%) and merlot (40%).
