2012 Saint-Estèphe, Second vin du Chateau Montrose from Bordeaux.
Produced from the same vineyard and with the same rigour that the Chateau Montrose Grand vin, the cuvee Dame de Montrose is from a secondary selection with a main part of Merlot. The 2012 Second vin du Chateau Montrose is 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2012 Dame de Montrose displays a ruby-tinted deep and bright red colour. At first, the nose is restrained, elegant and warm on chocolate and mocha notes. On swirling, the wine develops fresher blackcurrant, ripped fruit and dill aromas. Woody hints are well-integrated to the rest of the wine. This Saint-Estèphe offers a bold, supple and frank palate. The 2012 Dame de Montrose reveals a velvety and well-balanced tannic structure that fully harmonises with grilled aromas of brioche and liquorice. The finish is quite long and remains on fruit and freshness.
