The Second wine of the superb 2nd Grand Cru Classe Chateau Montrose, La Dame de Montrose is distinguished by its very own personality, offering a unique expression of the great terroir of Saint-Estephe.
La Dame de Montrose 2017 was made from the same vineyard as the Grand Vin, with a superb location on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, and was developed with the same attention and precision to detail. The vinifications were carried out in a way that respects the expression of each parcel contributing to the blend.
Dominated by Merlot (49%), the blend of La Dame de Montrose 2017 also has 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
Delicate and vibrant in its expression, the nose opens with freshly crushed raspberry and blackberry, polished with elegant floral notes. On the palate, the wine charms with its creamy texture and chiseled tannins, which coat the mouth. The palate remains precise and straightforward, stretching into a fresh and refined finish. A Dame de Montrose full of grace and elegance.
The 2017 La Dame de Montrose is a blend of 49% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, aged in 30% new and 70% one-year old barrels for 12 months. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with warm red currants, black cherries and black raspberry scents, followed by earthy/underbrush notions plus hints of violets, dark chocolate and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied and firm, with loads of mouth-coating juicy fruit, it has a velvety texture and long, mineral-laced finish. It should be approachable pretty much from the get-go, although don't let its precociousness make you underestimate its aging potential. Nicely done!
