Gigondas is an appellation of the Rhone Valley established in 1971. It extends over an area of more than 1200 hectares, exclusively within the commune of Gigondas. The vines of the Gigondas appellation enjoy a warm and dry southern climate, and are planted in soils consisting of alluvial terraces and stony clays, limestone, sandstone, chalk, and clay marl. The Gigondas appellation produces red wines and rosés (Grenache NoirSyrahMourvèdreCinsaultClairette). The wines of the appellation reveal aromas of red fruits and black fruits in their youth, before expressing notes of undergrowth and truffles as they age. These wines are powerful, offering a beautiful palette of aromas.
