Description
## E. Guigal crafts an iconic, refined and harmonious Côte-Rôtie wine
**The estate**
The E. Guigal estate was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal, in Ampuis. His son, Marcel, took over in 1961. Today, it is the 3rd generation that carries on the heritage and values of this iconic family house of the Rhône Valley.
Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage: the E. Guigal estate oversees a mosaic of vineyards spread across numerous appellations, forming a range of wines of impeccable quality.
Over the years, the E. Guigal house has experienced strong growth, notably becoming the owner in 1995 of the famous Château d'Ampuis, as well as several wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine, and Château de Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).
**The vineyard**
An iconic cuvée, La Mouline by E. Guigal is a Côte-Rôtie wine made from terraced plots forming a natural amphitheater. Approximately 75 years old, the vines are planted on light-colored siliceous soils mixed with calcareous loess.
**Winemaking and aging**
After the harvest, the grapes are sorted before undergoing vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Traditional pumping-over. Fermentation followed by maceration for nearly 4 weeks. This Rhône Valley wine is aged exclusively in new oak barrels for 40 months.
**Blend**
Syrah
Viognier
