A balanced and aromatic Rhône Valley red wine, a faithful reflection of Guigal's know-how
The property
Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in Ampuis, the E. Guigal house has become an emblematic figure of the Rhone vineyard. His son Marcel took over in 1961 and later passed on to the third generation, always guided by demand and passion.
Located in the north of the Rhône Valley, the estate stands out for its meticulous work on a wide variety of appellations: côte-rôtie, condrieu, hermitage, châteauneuf-du-pape, saint-joseph or crozes-hermitage.
In 1995, the acquisition of the prestigious Château d’Ampuis marked a turning point, followed by the integration of other major properties such as Domaine de Vallouit, Jean-Louis Grippat or Château de Nalys.
The vineyard
This Côtes du Rhône comes from a vineyard about 25 years old, spread over heterogeneous soils composed of sediments, alluvium, limestone with a granitic tendency and pebbles. This geological diversity contributes to the complexity and balance of the wine.
Vinification and aging
Traditional vinifications with long macerations. The aging is 18 months, part of which is in oak barrels.
Blend
Syrah (50%), grenache (40%) and mourvèdre (10%).
