The estate
Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Etienne Guigal, E. Guigal saw his son Marcel take over in 1961. Today, the 3rd generation carries on the heritage and values of this emblematic family-owned Rhône Valley House. Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage: E. Guigal cultivates a mosaic of vineyards across numerous appellations, offering a range of wines of impeccable quality. Over the vintages, E. Guigal has grown significantly, notably becoming the owner in 1995 of the renowned Château d’Ampuis, as well as several wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine, and Château de Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).
The vineyard
This Crozes-Hermitage cuvée comes from clay-silt and sandy-gravel soils. The vines, around 35 years old and mostly hillside-planted, are primarily located in the villages of Gervans, Mercurol, Larnage, and Crozes-Hermitage.
Winemaking and aging
Traditional harvesting and winemaking, with temperature control during alcoholic fermentation. Maceration for this Rhône Valley wine lasts around three weeks.
Blend
Syrah (100%).
