Description
A gourmet white from Sauternes
1st Classified Growth in 1855, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a white wine produced in the Sauternes appellation. The 8.5 hectare vineyard grows vines that are 41 years on average. The vines are planted on soil composed of sandy-gravel and a clay sub-soil. The 2016 blend is 95% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc.
There was a lot of rain and not much sun, until June. From mid-June, temperatures became warmer and the weather became much drier. The flowering around June 10th was perfect, homogenous and fast. The summer drought caused stress on the vines, allowing them to mature. However, this delays the arrival of botrytis. Harvest occurred on September 29-October 23 in very good climatic conditions. The noble rot has also contributed to the high-quality of the 2016 vintage.
Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2016 combines sharpness, precision and harmony in the elegantly pure style of the property. Fresh and complex, the nose develops aromas of fruits, flowers and spices. The high level of acidity gives the wine freshness and excellent aging potential. A gourmet vintage, which takes advantage of the finesse and elegance of its magnificent terroir.
