The origin of the name "Trottevieille" goes back several hundred years. Legend has it that there was a stagecoach stop near the castle. As soon as the carriage stopped, the old lady would trot down to get the news, hence the name Trotte Vieille. Château Trotte Vieille is a Premier Grand Cru Classé, unique in that it contains a small plot of vines that survived the terrible phylloxera epidemic in the second half of the 19th century.
Château Trotte Vieille 2022 is a Saint-Émilion wine that stems from a 12-hectare vineyard, ,planted on reddish soils on a limestone subsoil.
The months of January to March were relatively dry, despite heavy rainfall at the end of the previous year. A few frosts in early April had little impact on the vineyards. Flowering was rapid and uniform in mid-May. The summer period alternated between heavy rain, very hot weather, thunderstorms and drought.
Château Trotte Vieille 2022 is a blend of Cabernet Franc (50%), Merlot (45%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
