Vinum

Ripe-fruited, with blackcurrant jelly, raspberries and pomegranate juice; smoky notes, mint, violet, subtle oaky spice, very complex; on the palate creamy, round and full-bodied, very opulent and lavish, perfectly ripe, silky tannins, well-judged acidity; a spicy finish of almost endless length. Alongside La Fleur-Pétrus, one of the best Pomerol wines of the year.

Decanter

Clean and fresh aromatics – perfumed black fruit. Chewy and ripe, broad and filling but juicy and charming at the same time. It’s quite pent up, definitely coiled and knitted down but there’s such an appealing softness to this expression – definitely not overextacted but harnessing the ripeness of the fruit and delivering an intense, concentrated wine without the density or plushness of a hot vintage. Plums, blackcurrants and cherries, wet stones, oyster shell and a salty liquorice finish. Yum. Captivating.

Dark garnet in color, the wine shows off its display of red pit fruits, smoke, flowers, forest leaves, spice, and roasted cherries with pride. Rich, powerful, deep, and long, the wine is packed with dark chocolate, black cherries, plums, espresso, licorice, and herbs. There is a vibrancy paired with elegance, concentration, and purity that stand out. There is length, depth, intensity, and complexity that is showcased on the seamless finish. As a matter of style, this reminds of 1998 in its youth. The wine will require some aging before it begins to truly reveal its full potential. The wine is produced from 99.5% Merlot, with .05 Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2032-2065. 97-99 Pts

Signature Trotanoy concentration, muscular and intense, it will run and run. Shows a brooding quality that this wine can specialise in during its early years, and we are truly and fully in the slow and steady 50 year category of Trotanoy. Espresso, pumice stone, sage, roasted coffee beans, olive pit, cassis. 19hl/h, Harvest September 1 to 19. 50% new oak.

Trotanoy’s bouquet reveals itself slowly. Initially reserved, it offers a few nuances sparingly. In time, it graciously unfolds notes of peony that embody its freshness. After a little aeration it becomes more generous, showing hints of white truffle, blueberry and even a touch of raspberry. Smooth on the attack, the wine has creamy, silky tannins. They bring poise and breadth, supported by a structuring acidity that adds character and freshness. It is on the finish that the wine becomes even more imposing. So much energy, elegance and persistence. A great wine in the making.

Dark, intense, deep purple color. Moderately intense nose with ripe, subtle fruit. Notes of ink and blackberries. More intense when the glass is swirled, and more captivating. Supple on entry, very flavorful on the mid-palate; the wine melts across the palate, fragrant and consistently rich. It finishes long, with a tannic edge reminiscent of hazelnuts. Blend: 96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc. Aging: 16–18 months in oak barrels (50% new). Hand-harvested from September 1 to 19. Double hand sorting, optical sorting.
