Description
A rich and fruity red wine from Saint-Julien
The estate
Owned by Domaines Henri Martin, Chateau Saint-Pierre is a Saint-Julien 4th Grand Cru Classe, situated on the left bank of Bordeaux. Under the impetus of the dynamic Henri Martin, the vineyard of Chateau Saint-Pierre, as it was in 1855, was meticulously restructured. This estate is now one of the most famous references in this illustrious appellation.
The vineyard
Chateau Saint-Pierre 2015 is a Saint-Julien wine that stems from a 17-hectare vineyard.
The vintage
A wet and mild spring favored an early and rapid bud break. While July was hot and dry, August was marked by a more unstable and humid climate. The alternation between rainy spells and hot, dry and windy weather in September helped to refine the ripening process and preserve the vineyard’s healthy condition until the harvest.
Vinification and aging
Harvested in a parcel-by-parcel manner thanks to new infrastructures, the grapes are rigorously sorted before being vinified to avoid any over-extraction. The wine is aged exclusively in barrels (50% of which are new).
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (75%)
Merlot (19%)
Cabernet Franc (6%).
