The 2001 Chateau Rabaud-Promis is typical Bordeaux white. The region's mild temperatures allow for the creation of collection vintages: very aromatic, ample, and persistent. The 2001 Chateau Rabaud-Promis Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon blend is another prestigious release.
The generous and expressive nose exudes white flowers with yellow fruits -pear, mango, and apricot, followed by honey, wax, and spices. The 2001 Chateau Rabaud-Promis offers a coated palate with complementing candied fruits, nutmeg, and fresh plum.
The Rabaud-Promis has a lovely bouquet with hints of dried honey, nutmeg and crème brûlée blossoming in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a viscous opening: a surfeit of botrytis here that vibrant mandarin and dried pineapple notes. There is a great sense of cohesion to this Rabaud-Promis with a long tail of spicy fruit on the finish. This is consistent with my tasting at the property in April 2012. Superb.
