Proudly overlooking the Gironde estuary since the beginning of the 19th century, the Chateau Phelan-Segur vineyard is divided into four separate plots in the heart of the Saint-Estephe appellation.
The 70 hectares of vines are planted in an exceptional clay soil in the Saint-Estephe appellation.
The 2020 vintage was marked by a record amount of rainfall between October and June, as well as a very mild spring. The very dry month of July was followed by several rainy days in August, which allowed the vines to continue their vegetative cycle. The optimal climatic conditions of September favored the phenolic maturity and perfect sanitary condition of the vines.
The Chateau Phelan-Segur 2020 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (54%), Merlot (42%), Cabernet Franc (2%) and, for the first time in its blend, Petit Verdot (2%).
