Vinum

Medium golden-yellow; on the nose, exotic fruits, lychee, mint, elderflower and blackcurrant; creamy attack, perfectly ripe fruit, medium body, lively acidity, the wine has drive and freshness, finishing saline on exotic fruits with a peppery note.

Decanter

Bright lemon and lime on the nose with some white acacia floral scents too. Green grapes, crisp Bramley apples and white peach. Piercing brightness that then softens with a peach and apricot element. Focused and taut, with gorgeous hints of pineapple as well as some wet-stone minerality that really cleans the palate on the finish. There’s definitely a bitter vein with grapefruit pith, but I like the upfront nature. Racy, yet with enough mouthfeel to counter the acidity. A hint of oily, waxy character brings breadth, too. It makes you smile at the end. Perfect with oysters. Aged 45% in new barrels for nine months. pH 3.05. 6.5% malolactic fermentation, with four more weeks of bâtonnage to balance brightness with richness.

54.5% Sauvignon Blanc, 33% Sémillon, 12.5% Sauvignon Gris. Cask sample. Fragrant and floral with citrus and exotic-fruit notes as well. Good depth of fruit. Lively and fresh with line and length. Persistent. Lovely balance. Good potential. Quality, but at a price. (JL)

Le Figaro Vin

A vibrant nose combining pineapple, pear, pear blossom, chamomile and dandelion. On the palate, this energetic white immediately grabs attention: bright acidity, finely etched minerality and generous fruit intertwine with a subtle hazelnut note. The finish lingers on minerality, delivering inviting purity.

Tropical fruits, honeysuckle, pineapple, green apples, pears, and white peaches combine with a touch of saffron to create a lively aroma. Energetic, crisp, and vibrant, the finish draws your focus to its core of green apples, yellow and orange citrus, and juicy pineapples that linger. You can enjoy this on release. The wine was made from a blend of 54.5% Sauvignon Blanc, 33% Semillon, and 12.5%. Drink from 2027-2034. 94-94 pts

The refinement and precision of a dry white wine from Bordeaux

The property

Founded in 1853 by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild is an emblematic estate of Bordeaux, located in Pauillac, Médoc. Spanning 91 hectares, the vineyard is mainly planted with cabernet sauvignon. In 1973, it became the only estate to be promoted from second to first grand cru classé, under the impetus of Philippe de Rothschild. Today led by Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, the château stands out for its annual artistic labels and international collaborations.

The vineyard

Aile d'Argent, the flagship of the property's Dry White Bordeaux, comes from a 9-hectare vineyard with sandy-gravelly soils. The vines, with an average age of 14 years, benefit from an ideal terroir for the expression of white grape varieties, giving them minerality and freshness. This specific plot, dedicated to the production of white, represents a small part of the vast Mouton Rothschild estate.

The vintage

The 2024 vintage began with a mild winter with abundant rainfall. Bud break occurred on March 25, a week ahead of normal. After a relatively dry April, May brought substantial rains with cool temperatures and moderate sunshine. The summer proved to be hot, dry and sunny, with temperate nights. Flowering took place from June 6 to 11, followed by veraison from August 7 to 11. The harvest took place from September 9 to 20 under excellent conditions.

Vinification and aging

The aging took place over 9 months, with 45% new barrels.

Blend

Sauvignon blanc (54.5%), bringing freshness and vivacity, sémillon (33%), contributing to roundness and structure, and sauvignon gris (12.5%) adding complexity and aromatic finesse.
