Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for Château Montrose 2023

Tasting

This vintage harmoniously combines character, tension, grandeur and precision.

An opulent and fresh Saint-Estèphe red wine

The estate

Owned by the Martin and Olivier Bouygues brothers since 2006, the Château Montrose is an emblematic reference of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. This Second Cru Classé in 1855 overlooks one of the most beautiful terroirs in the Médoc. In the past as today, Château Montrose has distinguished itself for the quality of its wines and its style, making the estate an essential and globally renowned domain.

The vineyard

The Château Montrose is a Saint-Estèphe wine from a 95-hectare vineyard located in an exceptional location considered one of the greatest terroirs in the Bordeaux region. This vast single-block vineyard is a rarity on a terroir considered an "elite core". Located not far from the Gironde estuary, the Château Montrose vineyard is planted on terraces of gravel mixed with sand on the surface while the subsoil is clayey in nature.

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (75%)
Merlot (21%)
Cabernet Franc (4%).
