Chateau Meyney 51-hectare vineyard is located on Saint-Estephe magnificent rumps overlooking Gironde estuary. The 2000 Chateau Meyney is a superb blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
The wine displays a beautifully intense dark-red colour. The nose exudes pleasant ripe fruit compote, caramel and vanilla. The palate offers a silky attack, followed by refined tannins which attest to the vintage extraordinary keep potential with their intensity.
The 2000 Château Meyney was panned on release. Now after 15 years...? Well, it's slightly better but no great shakes. The nose is just rather muddled with mulberry and stewed plum scents mixed with high-toned iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, mealy in the mouth with a blunt, ham-fisted finish that just lacks freshness. It's drinkable, but not enjoyable. Tasted April 2015.
