Description
The precision and balance of a Margaux wine
The estate
In 1697, this property was sold to Simon Malescot, advisor to King Louis XIV. In 1827 the count of Saint-Exupery, great-grandfather of the famous aviator, acquired it. The 300-year-old Third Classified Growth Chateau Malescot St Exupery boasts one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Margaux appellation.
The vineyard
Chateau Malescot St Exupery 2021 is a Margaux wine made from a 23-hectare vineyard located in the heart of the appellation.
The vintage
The 2021 vintage is marked by a mild winter, followed by a cool spring and an unstable summer.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand in crates and sorted in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermented in temperature-controlled steel and concrete vats, the alcoholic fermentation lasts 8 to 12 days without yeasting and is followed by 12 to 14 months of aging on fine lees in barrels (60% new barrels) with stirring of the lees.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (49%)
Merlot (38%)
Cabernet Franc (8%)
Petit Verdot (5%).
