Description
The concentration and ripeness of a great red grand vin from Pessac-Leognan
A vintage of many extremes, 2018 ended up being an exceptional year at Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion, located in the Pessac-Leognan appellation, south of Bordeaux.
After a mild and wet winter, the spring of 2018 was marked by heavy rains, which resulted in great mildew pressure and late blight threatening the vineyard. At the end of May, storms and hail hit the Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion vineyard. Finally, in the month of July, the sun began to shine without stopping until autumn. The vine was aided greatly by these ideal climatic conditions and blossomed perfectly. Thermal amplitude brought by cool nights favored a perfect ripening of the berries. The harvest took place peacefully, with the good weather helping the team pick according to the level of maturity of each plot and each grape variety. Beginning on September 14th, the harvest of the reds took 23 days ane ended on October 10.
The grand vin of the property, the Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion 2018 has rewarded the efforts of the estate’s technical teams in a vintage that required great commitment.
The Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion Red 2018 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (20%). With its high concentration and remarkable tannins, the Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion Red 2018 displays all the qualities of an exceptional vintage.
