Decanter

Wonderful fragrance emitting out of the glass – a lovely vivid pink colour to the rim also. Fruity and juicy straight away, clean, crisp, bright and fresh with a really cool, wet stone undercurrent. There’s firmness but also finesse in that you have the presence of tannins without any harshness or grip. Lovely structure and focus. Super long, with that cool fresh grip really extending on the finish. I like it a lot for its cool profile, low alcohol and really understated character. Something very confident about this, but quiet. You can really feel the Cabernet here, it’s speaking in volumes. Becomes more chewy and round and relaxed after a few minutes. This will be delicious. A liquorice minty spice on the finish. Round and soft. Joyous. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Ageing 40% foudres, 15% new oak, 10% concrete tanks. 3.69pH. 69 IPT.

Flowers, chocolate, cigar box, peppery spices, herbs, and red, with black pit fruits fill the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, zesty, round, and fruity, with creamy red fruits, peppery spice, and herbs from the mid-palate that carry through to the finish. The wine was made from blending 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Give it just a year or two in the bottle, and it will be good to go. 12.7% ABV. Drink from 2028-2047. 92-94 Pts

Aged in foudres (40%) and 60% in barrels, 15% of which are new. Great finesse and depth in the bouquet of Lafon Rochet, once again highlighting its focus on precision and freshness. Power, too, is virtually a given! Inviting notes of blueberries and sweet spices, complemented by a touch of peppermint and raspberries. The creamy, slightly mellow attack announces an inviting, elegant wine. Velvety tannins, while retaining lift and power, combine with the freshness of the acidic framework. This allows the wine to highlight its temperament, persistence and balance. This Lafon Rochet, full of character and built for the future, can also be enjoyed in its youth.

Deep, intense, almost black purple color. Very aromatic nose, refined, fruity, pure and floral. Delicately fleshy on the attack, with great elegance on the palate, the wine melts across the mouth in a charming, seamless progression. On the finish, the tannic structure is the most refined ever seen on this estate. Beautiful, fragrant persistence. Very good. Blend: 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 12.70% – pH: 3.69 – IPT: 69. Yield: 51 hl/ha. Aging: 40% in large oak casks, 15% in new oak and 10% in vats.

Deep, with a hint of reduction, it needs a little time, then reveals a complex bouquet of dark berries, tobacco and floral notes; on the palate, superb juiciness, like biting into a basket full of fresh berries, no oak showing, top-notch tannins, plenty of drive, precise, structured, and long-lasting. A finesse-driven Lafon-Rochet that gracefully kisses Lafite.

This vintage reveals a deep, dark garnet color.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is remarkably pure, offering fresh black fruit and stone fruit aromas delicately intertwined with floral notes. Touches of chocolate, cigar box, aromatic herbs, peppery spices, and graphite enrich this complex olfactory palette.

Palate
Medium-bodied, the wine reveals a dense, plush texture with great tactile softness while retaining beautiful opulence. Zesty acidity brings undeniable structuring freshness. Creamy flavors of red fruits, spices, and herbs unfold through to a long finish, marked by superb saline tension and perfectly contained power.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with classic meats such as beef, veal, pork, or lamb, whether roasted, braised, or grilled. It also complements poultry, mushroom-based dishes, firm-fleshed fish like tuna, as well as Asian recipes with umami flavors or pasta dishes featuring meat or truffle sauces.

Serving and Aging

To fully appreciate Château Lafon-Rochet 2025, decanting for one to three hours is recommended while the wine is young. The ideal serving temperature is around 15.5°C (60°F). With excellent aging potential, this wine can be enjoyed through approximately 2047. Alcohol content: 12.70% vol.

A Great Saint-Estèphe Wine Combining Power and Elegance

The Estate

The origins of Château Lafon-Rochet date back to the 17th century. Located within the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Lafon-Rochet distinguished itself in 1855 by earning the title of Grand Cru Classé. In 1960, Guy Tesseron acquired the property, and through his dedication and passion gradually elevated Château Lafon-Rochet to the top of its appellation. Basile Tesseron, son of Michel Tesseron, took over the family estate from 2007 until September 2021, when businessman and founder of the Foncia Group, Jacky Lorenzetti, acquired the property. Jacky Lorenzetti owns several estates on the left bank of Bordeaux, including Château Lilian-Ladouys (Saint-Estèphe) and Château Pédesclaux (Pauillac), and is also co-owner of Château d'Issan (Margaux).

The Vineyard

The Saint-Estèphe terroir on which the estate is located enjoys an exceptional setting, on a well-ventilated plateau situated between Château Cos d'Estournel and Château Lafite-Rothschild. The vines, averaging around 38 years old, thrive on soils composed of deep gravel and blue clay, providing optimal drainage and excellent water regulation. The vineyard is farmed organically, incorporating biodynamic methods. An agroforestry initiative has also been implemented, with thousands of trees planted to promote biodiversity.

The Vintage

The year was characterized by an overall dry and sunny climate. Early water stress, occurring between mid-May and the end of July, resulted in small, highly concentrated berries and even ripening. Rainfall at the end of August proved beneficial in supporting the final stage of the growing cycle without causing excess sugar accumulation. This vintage follows in the tradition of the great "5" years, offering a profile centered on freshness and balance. Alcohol content: 12.70% vol.

Aging takes place in foudres (40%), barrels (15% new), and concrete tanks (10%).
